Registrar in Psychiatry at Maitland Mental Health Unit

Maitland Mental Health Unit is a 24-bed unit providing psychiatric care to a diverse portion of the adult population. The unit consists of a 6-bed area for patients requiring close observation or more acute needs, as well as an 18-bed open area representing a general adult ward. Medical care is provided by two medical teams, each consisting of a consultant psychiatrist, registrar and junior medical officer. While there is the opportunity for registrars to practice more independently regarding review of patients, presentations to the mental health review tribunal and working within the wider multi-disciplinary team, the position is well supported with both consultant psychiatrists being present on the ward each day. Additionally, the nursing and allied health staff are experienced and knowledgeable regarding the function of the ward, forming a warm and rewarding environment in which to work.
