About this role
WARD doctor providing cover to the wards via the Medical Officers Noticeboard (MON) for acute issues that cannot wait. Responsible for clinical reviews and patients admitted under medical, surgical, orthopaedic, rehabilitation, obstetrics and gynaecology, psychiatry, and palliative care teams, including surgical, orthopaedic, medical, and gynaecological patients on the paediatric ward and inpatients remaining in ED due to non-availability of inpatient beds. Works with Medical Registrar, ICU team, on-call registrars (Surgical, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Anaesthetics), paediatric SRMO/Registrar and ICU SRMO/Registrar, and other Intern/RMOs.

ROLE DESCRIPTION PLEASE ENSURE LOCUMS READ AND UNDERSTAND BEFORE PRESENTING: The role of the WARD doctor is to provide cover to the wards VIA the Medical Officers Noticeboard (MON) for acute issues that cannot wait. the weekend RMO will be responsible for holding the after-hours pager and attend clinical reviews. there is a Medical Registrar onsite who can provide support and if there is a MET call the weekend RMO, Medical Registrar and ICU team attend. The ICU is the lead in the MET call and will hand over to the Medical Registrar and weekend RMO when deemed appropriate. On-Call registrars (Surgical, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, and Anaesthetics) are rostered and available to provide additional support if required during these shifts. There is a paediatric SRMO/Registrar and ICU SRMO/Registrar on site 24/7. There is a Medical Registrar onsite during these hours to provide additional support. Other Intern/ RMOs will come on throughout the day to assist you with the MON jobs. The Weekend RMO is responsible for patients admitted under medical, surgical, orthopaedic, rehabilitation, obstetrics and gynaecology, psychiatry, and palliative care teams. This includes surgical, orthopaedic, medical, and gynaecological patients on the paediatric ward and inpatients remaining in ED due to non-availability of inpatient beds.
