Reg Paediatrics Locum at Bathurst

Paediatric Registrar to be physically present in the Emergency Department during the winter period. This forms part of our broader winter strategy.

We request that only candidates with availability for the full month be presented as its had to have rotation within this Position. There may be on occasions times that they will need to also support the ward, in addition to the work in ED.

The objective of this initiative is to improve the flow and timely assessment of paediatric patients in ED, particularly during peak winter activity when we anticipate a surge in presentations. As you’re aware, a significant proportion of our patient complaints relate to long ED wait times—especially for children—and this measure is intended to directly address that issue.

The locum will be rostered for evening shifts (2:00pm to 10:00pm- Monday to Friday, which aligns with peak paediatric presentation times. They will be briefed that their role is specifically focused on managing paediatric patients within ED. Outcomes will be reviewed as part of the winter debrief to assess the impact on waiting times and complaint volumes.
