Cons General Practice Locum at Parkes

Overnight GP providing emergency and inpatient cover: face-to-face clinical handover with ED day doctor at 1800–1815 and 0745–0800; onsite 1800–2300, then on-call to 0800 with immediate attendance when requested; provide onsite medical care to ED presentations; provide medical care to inpatients 1800–0800, complete discharge summaries and review admitted patients; complete documentation in eMR; lead clinical review, rapid response, trauma and cardiac arrest services; check pathology and radiology results and arrange follow-up; provide surgical assistance in theatre when required; participate in teaching/supervision and clinical meetings; ward doctor on-call from 1700–0800 for emergencies only.

•Face-to-face clinical handover with ED day doctor at 1800 – 1815 and 0745 - 0800 in the Emergency Department.

•You will be required to be onsite from 1800 to 2300 then on call to 0800 and then back onsite for handover at 0745 - 0800. The on-call doctor overnight is expected to immediately attend the hospital when requested to attend by Nursing staff.

•Provide onsite medical care to patients presenting to the emergency department.

•Provide medical care to inpatients from 1800 – 0800, complete discharge summaries and review admitted patients as requested.

•Complete contemporaneous and comprehensive clinical documentation in eMR.

•Provide and lead clinical review, rapid response, trauma and cardiac arrest services across the facility.

•Check pathology and radiology results in the ED pooled results message centre ordered by any doctor, follow-up and document management plans for any results needed further action and review any patients returning for follow-up of results.

•Provide surgical assistance in theatre when required.

•Participate in the training and supervision of students, junior medical officers and registrars.

Participate in morbidity and mortality meetings, MDT meetings and other clinical meetings as requested.

•Ward doctor on-call from 1700 – 0800 for EMERGENCIES ONLY
